This limited Pícaro edition was made by selecting the best grapes of a Tinta de Toro vineyard planted in 1928.

The grapes with which El Pícaro is made are grown in two vineyards located in Toro. They are old vineyards that were planted in 1928 on poor land and with low yields.

The 2014 harvest was performed in the first week of October. The grapes were in their optimal maturation point after a very good, long cycle, a wet winter and a long and hot summer. The best clusters were selected.

Fermentation is carried out in 15,000-kilogram concrete deposits, where the temperature is controlled so they do not exceed 24ºC. The malolactic fermentation also takes place in these deposits. The wine undergoes a short ageing of around two months in French oak barrels. The wine is not filtered or clarified employing aggressive methods, with the aim of preserving its natural characteristics. Spontaneous yeasts originating from the grape skin are used.

Intense purple wine with a purple rim. On the nose, black fruit stand out above red fruit, blueberries and sweet and strong redcurrants, some balsamic notes too. It is a full-bodied wine on the palate, and the fruit stands out again, a perfectly blended wine with a balanced acidity, leaving greedy and pleasant sensations. It is a smooth and round wine, with an unusual elegance for a young wine.
